THE BALAERIC ISLANDS

The Balearic Islands are in the western Mediterranean Sea, near the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. The four largest islands are Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza, and Formentera which forms an autonomous community and a province of Spain, of which the capital city is Palma. The co-official languages in the Balearic Islands are Catalan.

THE CANARY ISLANDS

The Canary Islands are a Spanish autonomous community, and one of the outermost regions of the European Union. Located just off the northwest coast of mainland Africa, 100 km west of the disputed border between Morocco and the Western Sahara. The islands are Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Alegranza, La Graciosa and Montaña Clara.

Gibraltar remains a British territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance to the Mediterranean overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar which shares a land border with Spain to the north
